Do-not-miss pitfalls

  • Do not rely on IgE levels or food panels to diagnose AD or guide management.
  • Do not place AD patients on chronic systemic corticosteroids, recommended against.
  • Do not under-treat from steroid phobia: appropriate-potency TCS and proactive therapy are first-line and safe when used correctly.
  • Do not start an oral JAK inhibitor without baseline labs and boxed-warning risk discussion.
  • Do not impose dietary elimination on the basis of sensitization testing alone.
